Animal Jam Academy?!

Hey animals! Today is monday, so I'm probably gonna be late for school typing this post. (I guess that's the price you have to pay for such an INCREDIBLE blog!)

The rare item monday is underwater, so naturally it would appear in Bahari Bargains!

Y'know, in case any of you wanna dive into freezing cold water in the dead of Jamaa winter. Any polar bears out there?

Now, onto the main (and most exciting!) point of this post: animal jam academy!

And before anyone says anything about it, yes I did take this info from another blog. It's my job to keep y'all informed of everything animal jam and besides, I couldn't have figured it out myself.

Have you ever seen a little owl logo in the corner of an AJ download? That's because they're part of Animal Jam Academy, a large collection of downloads, including word searches, mazes, and the most recent Brady Barr video. Very helpful, you think?

That's all for now,
Have a jamtastic week!

New Item – Buttoned Topcoat!

Hey animals! I hope you're having a great weekend and a great week. :)
Thanks for your supportive comments on my last post, and no, I won't leave blogging or animal jam anytime soon. ^_^ Like I said, I've just gotten back into the swing of it. (A seemingly steady flow of daily posts from me and a new Berry the Koala :O let's hope this lasts long!)

Today's new item goes nicely in a set with yesterday's:
The super cute buttoned topcoat!

I have something (a lot, actually) just like this in real life, only they're black. ^_^
Pick this up in Jam Mart Clothing today!

New on the D. E., a very helpful post regarding chat has been published!

You may have trouble reading. If you like, you can click the image to enlarge it slightly, or go to blog.animaljam.com to view it. Remember to highlight the text that I did in this image! Strangely, it didn't show up in dark text like the rest.

This post is about, as the title says, having trouble with chatting. Not getting your words across. Not having the text show up to your friend, but showing up to you. We've all been there, right?

Sometimes you type a word that you think is perfectly okay, but you get a chat warning. "It doesn't look like the conversation you're having it appropriate!" It was either a glitch, or you did in fact type something, but separated by other characters, but it was still detected!
In that case, try rewording what you were trying to say.

Other times you can say something that was perfectly okay, it appeared in it's chat bubble to you, but not to anyone else! This is a simple glitch, and to avoid it either try rewording what you are trying to say, or say it

one

word

at

a

time

like

this

.

It's happened to me so many times. You just get used to it and work around it. ^_^

As another notice, I think I'll start updating Berry the Koala once a month. I know where the story is going, and I know you have been asking and asking for me to end it's hiatus. Good news! With the last post on Berry the Koala, the hiatus is over. Once a month I'll post on it, and since february's just around the corner, expect another Berry post soon!

That's all for now,
see you in Jamaa!

Is Anyone There? (Long post)

Is anyone still there?

I'm not getting as many views as I used to, and I've been noticing some other animal jam blogs shutting down. I google searched "animal jam blog" and almost all of the blogs that came up had either shut down or had a "quitting" message at the beginning.

Just when I get back into blogging, everyone decides to leave. Hmph.
>:\

I remember when I started AJ Stream, pretty much everyone I talked to had some sort of a frequently updated blog about AJ! Now they're all gone, including many of the ones in my "more blogs" list.

To be honest, I think many of the people with blogs have been around AJ for a long while. They think they've seen it all and quit because they aren't excited about where it's going.

I'm not excited about being alone on my blogger dashboard. At all. People are quitting animal jam rapidly and as I know, the first step towards a website shutting down is a drop in users, a drop in memberships, a drop in cash flow.

I don't have friends right now (IRL) and the only thing that I'm excited about are online games. Particularly this one. I need this website to stay running.

So please, AJHQ, please let 2014 be full of surprises that bring everyone back. (You're not reading this, I kno. lol.)

I don't want any of you to go.

( ;_; )

14 Nonmember Clothing Ideas

If you're new to animal jam, it may be difficult finding the right items that you think match your personality. The thing is, it's not necessarily the items you have, but the colors that really complete everything. Luckily for everyone, colors on animal jam are completely free!

If you're having trouble getting your animal together, here are some ideas to get you started.

Feel free to steal any of these without credit! ;)

Note: I currently only have 12 items in my inventory. All nonmember, all unrare. These will be easy to obtain.

New Item – Furry Hat

Hey animals! If you haven't already noticed, I updated the Other Blogs list so now it's in alphabetical order. If you wanna check out some great blogs, click here!

The new item of today is perfect for the ever chilling weather: the furry hat!

Go to Jam Mart Clothing to pick this up today! ^_^

If you're having trouble with the Temple of Zios journey book, AJHQ has published a page about it that may or may not be useful.

This is good for new players who don't know much about the journey book, but not so much the older players.

I'm sorry for the short post, so I'll add in a quick fun fact:

Tapirs are said in legends to eat people's nightmares.

That's all for now,

Jam on!

Confirmed: Eagles are Flying into Jamaa! (Long post)

Hey animals, TGIF! What are your plans for the weekend? :)

I've found some news confirming my suspicions about the new animals. Credit for this image goes to the Animal Jam Sky Blog...

How did I not notice that! :O

I've noticed a pattern in new animals. Remember the release of the eagle hat? Remember the fox hat? Remember the raccoon hat? All of those came just before the animals themselves became available. (eagles, foxes, raccoons) This isn't consistent with all animals, however, but it is something to take notice of. Who knows, maybe there will be emus soon! (emu egg, outback imports)

In other news, today I went to AJ Outfitters and found they remodeled the page!

Cute, right? I love the border and the banner! :D

Speaking of remodeling, I kind of miss the old AJ home pages. I liked the Appondale elephant homepage and... I can't even remember any other than that. :\

One homepage. Kind of boring. The homepage is past due for a makeover, don't you think?

I don't think I already told you this, but I wrote an email to AJHQ a while ago and got a reply today. I was confused about how the donation box in the conservation museum benefitted the big cats initiative. Here is AJHQ's response:

I thought that the conservation museum was a little like Coins for Change on club penguin, where the virtual coin donations were like votes, and people running it split a portion of money determined by those votes. The ways that AJ is involved with the big cats initiative were listed in the email, but the donation box wasn't mentioned. Which means that gem donations don't help bring money to the big cats initiative?

I'm not sure, and actually I think the opposite. Chances are it is like Coins for Change on Clubpenguin, AJHQ just isn't explaining so to not seem like they're saying "we'll only donate if you do," if that makes sense. (I don't think I worded that right)

Why else would they have a donation box which says "donate gems to help protect big cats"?

Conclusion: In some way, shape, or form, donating gems to the conservation museum does help preserve real life big cats.

That's all for now, Jammers,

don't stop donating!

Denstravaganza!

Hey animals! Today marks the second biweekly update of the month. Instead of adding more annoying filler, lets get right to the Jamaa Journal! ^_^

Jamaa Journal

Update Summary

With January's soon close, the friendship festival is sure to be just around the corner. Soon pink and red friendship jam-a-grams will be available for use, and cutesy items will arrive in Jam Mart Clothing and Jam Mart Furniture. Lets not forget the friendship party though!

Last update's mystery has been answered. With AJHQ using words like "gliding" and picturing a black and white feather, it's obvious that February will bring hearts, friendship jam-a-grams, and magnificent birds soaring and squawking through the sky.

You can now go on adventures through the world map!
Which is nice, but my map seems to be a little glitchy...

I can't click even the nonmember adventures!
Is anyone else getting this? If so, comment below!

Now for the cover of the Jamaa Journal: The Denstravaganza. It's like last year's Hat-a-palooza, only with dens. Actually, not really. Instead of a big celebration with hat shops on every corner, all dens are half the price! Go to the Den Depot in coral canyons today to buy that fantasy castle you've always wanted.

New Items

New items include the new deer shaman statue in the Chamber of Knowledge, and an underwater item down below in Kani Cove.

Fun Fact!

A group of tigers is called an "ambush" or "streak"!

Featured Den of the Month – WINNER!

Hey animals! The item of today is the pine tree, sold in Jam Mart Furniture.

Pick this up today! :)

Now onto the biggest part of today... January's first Den of the Month!

I present to you the winner...

Coolsalmon!

This is definitely a den worthy to be featured. Coolsalmon's den is a wintry snow fort, amazing from the potted baobabs to the aurora-designed wallpaper!
Still Jamaaliday themed, but incredibly charming nonetheless, my favorite part is how Coolsalmon added a Jamaaliday bow (den item) to a Sidekix penguin plushie to make it appear as if the penguin is wearing a bow tie! ^_^

Coolsalmon's den will go on the BOTM page. The buddies of the month will still stay up, but will be separated from the dens of the month.

Thanks for reading,
see you in Jamaa!

RIM – Rare Leg Armor!

Notice: A new Berry The Koala entry has been posted! Click here to read it.

Hey jammers! I hope you're having a great monday, and if you're not, I hope it gets better soon! I know it will. ^_^

Today is monday, otherwise known as Rare Item Monday. This is the one day every week when a rare item (sometimes new, sometimes rereleased) is being sold. But you have to find it first!

This time, you don't have to look all over Jamaa and waste time that you could be spending actually knowing where that item is (if that makes sense to you?). This time, you get to scroll down and find out for yourself quickly!

Or... you can go to another blog and learn there. But everyone knows my blog's better! (Sarcasm)

I really like these colors, do you? Very earthy and spring-like.
This is sold in Jam Mart Clothing on the 13th page.

Speaking of colors, did you know different colors have different impacts on your mood?

For example...
  • Red makes you feel stressed. (Only slightly, but enough for you to notice in comparison to other colors.)
  • Blue can relax you. Studies show that people who paint their bedrooms blue get more sleep than those with purple walls.
  • Pink can be calming.
  • "Cool" colors on the spectrum (blue, purple, etc.) can calm you, but deeper shades can also cause feelings of sadness.
  • "Warm" colors on the spectrum can make you feel warm to angry.
  • Green is the easiest-to-see color. It causes close to no eyestrain and can make you feel refreshed.

That's all for now,

see you in Jamaa! :)

Pet Ice Rink + Den of the Month

IMPORTANT NOTE: TOMORROW IS THE DUE DATE FOR COMMENTING YOUR USERNAME TO BECOME DEN OF THE MONTH. DETAILS AT BOTTOM OF POST.

Hey animals! Thank goodness I don't have school today or tomorrow. I thought I wasn't going to get to post. ^_^

The new item of today is sold in Jam Mart Furniture.

It's an ice rink for your pets! Just in case, you know, if your puppy or hamster hasn't already gotten enough of this frigid weather and wants to play hockey with tiny penguins.

The most recent article on the D.E. is about something (most of you) are familiar with: reporting a Jam-a-Gram.

These reviews on how to do things in Jamaa can be very helpful, especially for new players. You can go to blog.animaljam.com to read this full size. :)

A reminder regarding Den of the Month: I haven't received any comments asking to get a chance in being chosen for AJ Stream's Den of the Month. The complete rules for Den of the Month are two posts below at the bottom of the post entitled "Jamaa Journal – January 2014"

Comment your AJ username on any post and unlock your den. I will view your den and you will be entered in a drawing for AJ Stream's featured Den of the Month.

If I only receive one comment by tomorrow, that person will have their den featured automatically. If I receive no comments, I will choose a person from my buddy list to be featured.

TOMORROW IS THE DUE DATE FOR COMMENTS!

 That's all for now,
Have a jamtastic day!

New Item – Snowboarding Helmet

Hey animals! The new item of today is sold in Jam Mart Clothing.

Hmm... Not really feeling this item. Mostly because the colors are a little dull and it's for only members. I was never really a fan of snow boarding or these human-ish items either. Actually if you think about it, all items in Jamaa are very human-ish, even the plants. Animals don't carry swords or have potted plants in their homes. It's okay though, these types of items add to the charm of AJ. I'm not sure about this helmet though... :\

And now, a blog post from the D.E....

If you want to read it full size, go to www.blog.animaljam.com

That's all for now,

see you in Jamaa, and don't forget to read the post below about the new Den of the Month!

Jamaa Journal – January 2014

Hey animals! This new Jamaa Journal is short, but filled with new things, and even a little mystery as well...

Jamaa Journal

This month's Jamaa Journal border is my favorite color! :)

Update Summary

With the start of a new year, the Jamaaliday celebrations and decorations have wrapped up, but the New Years parties are still in full swing. Owls are back for the season, so you can bring yours to the secret flying area in the Play-as-your-pet party. The snow fort is back at the den shop as well. However, one question remains: what does that feather mean? Is it a sign that there will be a new sky area? Is it a sign of a new item? Is it something hidden somewhere in Jamaa? What do you think?

Den of the Month

As you may have already noticed from the note on the sidebar, I've stopped doing Buddy of the Month and have moved on to den of the month, suggested by catlover25. Through the comments, you can tell me your AJ username and unlock your den, and by a proposed date I'll choose which of the ones submitted will be AJ Stream's den of the month. If no one comments, then I will choose a den of my friend's. The winner will be posted on the Buddy of the Month page, which I will still keep up, but made a separate section on the page for Den of the Month.

For January's featured den, I'm looking for someone with one of those Cosmo dens that can be bought at the Diamond Shop, but it's not a requirement.

The due date to comment your user name is January 20th, 2014.

Thanks for reading,

see you in Jamaa!

11 Things You Didn't Know About Snails

(Warning: If snails gross you out a whole lot, don't scroll down any further.)

Hey animals! I know these recent posts seem like one excuse for not posting after another, but I didn't make this post last weekend because I was sick. After a week of delay, I'm feeling a little better and I'm finally going to publish it. I hope you understand!

This informational post is about... snails!

(image not mine.)

They were my favorite animal and when I was younger I kept pet snails in a terrarium who were there up to 2 years. :)

You can find these almost anywhere, but there is a surprising amount of things you wouldn't guess were true about them.

This post is about things you wouldn't think were true about snails or slugs. Enjoy!

1. Garden snails can sleep soundly for up to 3 years straight and wake up afterwards and return to eating and doing other snaily pastimes like nothing happened.

2. Snails have a single "foot" at the end of their body that they use to move around.

3. A certain type of slug can create a type of pole of mucus so it can climb up and mate with another slug in midair.

4. Some slugs can self-amputate a part of their tail (caught in a predators grasp) to get away from being eaten.

5. The giant African land snail (Achatina fulica) is on average 7 centimeters in height and 20 centimeters or more in length.

6. Cone snails use a tooth and a venom gland to catch their prey. The venoms that they use are called Conotoxins and can be extremely fatal to humans.

7. Cone snails have a brightly colored patterned body which can be attractive to the human eye. No matter how pretty, don't pick up a cone snail!

8. Slugs can become aggressive in the summer when resources are down.

9. The pacific banana slug can reach up to 28 centimeters long.

10. Some slugs hibernate underground during winter.

11. Slugs are important to the ecosystem by eating fungi.

Thats all the facts for now,
have a great day!

The new items are as follows...

Jam Mart Furniture

New Year's Party!

I've gotten a couple of questions from some of my readers, and I'm going to answer them in detail for all of you.

Question #1: If you're a nonmember, how did you play Greely's Inferno? I thought it was for members only.
Answer: It wasn't a glitch or anything complicated like that. My brother (who is a member on AJ) let me play Greely's Inferno on his account. Great question! I hadn't thought about it while making that post.

Question #2: Please continue Berry The Koala!
Answer: Since you asked this through Jam-a-Gram, I'm going to answer it right here. I put Berry The Koala on hiatus because I was getting a bit too busy to think about or work on. I may start it up again, but my AJ blogging is already in the process of slowing down. I'm losing a lot of interest in it, not in AJ of course, but I'm finding other games that I'm more wrapped up in. Not only that, but blogging every 8 days about things that you've already heard too much about on other blogs is getting tiresome and becoming a chore. But I guess if I get a lot of positive feedback, I'll keep up posting for you. :)
Thanks for asking!

My lengthy informational posts are getting fewer and more far between, so I'll try to make one or two this weekend. School starts back up again tomorrow (*screams*) so that means I have two days where I can't post before the weekend.

The new year has come around once more, with the yearly New Years Parties, making plans for the next year, and celebration of another year of fantastic experiences, people, and fun. We're all hoping that 2014 will be the best year yet, but it's good to make specific goals to accomplish.

Comment below:

• What did you like about 2013?

• What do you want to happen in 2014?

I'm interested in what you have to say! :)

That's all for now, Jammers!

See you in Jamaa!
