Hey Jammers! Eek, it's been over a month since my last post. ^^;
This semester of school has been super challenging for me in a lot of different ways, so I've been pretty stressed out just trying to get work done. Though even through my gaps in posting, I'm still here! I check comments every couple of days.
And while I'm busy focusing on other things, sometimes your comments help me learn what's going on in the world of Jamaa:
Or in this case, the world of WildWorks' long list of horrible mistakes TT_TT
The day I learned that WildWorks was re-using Fer.al graphics and user data to push its player base into a shady game that runs on NFTs/cryptocurrency... I had a project for my animation class to edit. I ended up needing to spend the whole night working on it because it was so hard to focus on editing when I was just so disappointed.
For those who don't know, NFTs and other kinds of cryptocurrency have a terrible impact on the environment. They require huge amounts of electricity, produce huge amounts of e-waste (electronic waste), and put massive amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. They are exactly what we don't need right in the middle of a climate emergency.
So... this just in, WildWorks: you stink.
I'm frustrated that I have so much emotional attachment to a game about nature run by a company that obviously just doesn't care about the Earth at this point.
That's all I have to say about Cinder. I don't really have the mental energy to write anything more about it.
EDIT 1/1/22: But wait– there's more! Wildflower75 just alerted me to this AJPW Jamaa Journal page from April 2021:

While I know it doesn't make anything better, I don't want my first post in over a month to end on an entirely sad note. So here's a small content update I noticed in AJC:
A handful of cute older Jam-a-Grams seem to have returned–
Fun fact: the 'Friends!' one is based on an older JAG that was illustrated in a really pretty way–
The wolf JAG is also based on a cool older one too–
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the newer one also used to say 'Join our wolf pack' but they removed the text? I wonder why.
–––
That's all the content I have for this post today, but one more thing–
While WildWorks may stink, this little corner of the Animal Jam community brings me nothing but joy.
All of you are kind, awesome people, and I appreciate every one of you. You are what makes this place special! :)
I'm gonna end this post now, but I hope the last few days of 2021 are all good days for you, and I'll see you in the new year!
Ah, the old days of not knowing where the Sol Arcade is and sending my bro the penguin one!
ReplyDeleteThe fox and wolf ones hit me straight in the nostalgia. Thanks for the post!
So glad you liked it!! The old Jam-a-Grams will always have a special place in my heart-- they were a lot more artistic and less standardized than the newer ones, though there are nice new ones too of course
DeleteWhen I learned Wildworks was doing NFT... eugh, so disappointed in them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been checking my JAGs, but it's nice they're returning the older designs!! I've always loved them and they look great, so glad they're back!!
I think the one with a wolf silhouette has always looked that way? Not 100% sure though.
I guess the one silver lining about the Cinder situation is that, at least from what I've seen, it seems almost all of Wildworks' player base is united in being disappointed in them lol. Hopefully it sends a message!
DeleteAnd you're probably right about the wolf JAG-- I'm probably just getting it confused because the newer one was sorta based on the older one that did have the text.
i 100% agree with you... if people who played fer.al and literally PAID for certain advancements knew that it was all just a test game, i definitely don't think anyone would've. fer.al now simply looks like a scam game; it's disheartening that wildworks decided to just use this well put-together game :/.
ReplyDeleteon a more positive note, i really love the jam-a-gram designs :] i think it's cool ww is bringing back some older stuff.
it's nice seeing a post from you, doomy! sorry i haven't been super active recently hahaa-
~popcorn
It's great to see a comment from you!
DeleteWhat a mistake on Wildworks' part-- I didn't really play it, but Fer.al was fine as it is! Whose idea was it to take a perfectly decent game and recycle its assets into something bad?
I was actually planning on trying Fer.al again if they brought back the dragon avatar, but I guess that ain't ever happening even if they do :P
And no worries Popcorn! You got a life too ^^
Hope you have a happy New Year!
That's just.. disappointing. Especially after WildWorks literally published an entire Jamaa Journal page about how harmful cryptocurrency is. Oh, the irony.
ReplyDeleteHere's a question I'm just asking myself, but.. what happened? And what changed? And what are they even doing --
Those JAGs are really cool though! The wolf one is personally my favorite.
Waaaaaiit a second, they published a page about cryptocurrency being harmful? When and where?? If I can find it I'd love to add it to this post.
DeleteAnd I know Wild, I've been asking myself those same questions >.<
The wolf JAG is one of my favorites too! The wolf silhouettes make it unique
Heya, it's me, I'm too lazy to sign in ahhahha
DeleteIt was in a Jamaa Journal in April, I dug through Rainbow's blog and found a post where she had an image of it here: https://rainbow000pegasus.wordpress.com/2021/04/21/the-arrival-of-the-egg-lanterns/
(whew, Rainbow, if you're reading this, THANK YOU for keeping amazing records of Animal Jam!)
Thanks so much! I updated the post
DeleteHoly heck I don't even remember that Jamaa Journal page either. Wow, the irony. Simply awful, WildWorks. Awful.
DeleteHi! This is Coralinity lol - I'm unable to comment on my regular google account so I'm using this one. The decisions WildWorks is making is just utterly terrible. Now I feel like they just care about money. -_-
ReplyDeleteIt's so ironic; first they're telling us to help save the environment and everything, and now they're doing something that's just contributing to climate change.
The Jam-A-Gram designs are really cool!

Hi Coralinity!
DeleteAck, I know... hypocrisy everywhere
Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too!!
